Lynne L Harrison
I live in Canmore Alberta with the majestic peaks of the Three Sisters, Mt. Lawrence Grassi and Mt. Rundle to inspire me..
After two years at Carleton University I headed west to Whistler to ski. I never went back. Finding Inspiration in the mountains that I love so much, I began to paint and sold my work in various Whistler Galleries and shops.
Along the way, I had two amazing children. After being together since 2000, in 2012 Dave Irwin and I got married (Crazy Canuck downhill skier and Olympian) in our backyard. In 2001 Dave suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and in 2002 he and I started the Dave Irwin Foundation for Brain Injury Recovery, Over the next decade, me and my pals organized the Dash For Cash ski fundraisers at Sunshine Village. I entered multi-stage self supported footraces in the Gobi and Sahara Deserts and Ironman Canada to raise funds and awareness about brain injury.
In 2014 I founded the MENTAL-AID FOUNDATION to raise money for programs, housing, research and support for persons suffering from mental illness after losing (and eventually finding) an adult child to the streets and mental illness, Go to: www. mental-aid.com for more info. You can click on the FBook page which is updated as much as i can.:)
In the meantime, I have continued to paint and had a few solo shows. I have been lucky enough to be resident artist at Num-ti-Jah Lodge at Bow Lake (a very special place) several times www.num-ti-jah.com
In May 2005 Silver Tree Studio was born and opened at #104 729 Main Street, CANMORE AB.
In Feb 2016 I was invited to paint at TEDX Canmore, and have since been featured in WHERE MAGAZINE (winter edition) and WHERE summer 2016 upcoming edition and I am featured in KOOTENAY MOUNTAIN CULTURE'S 2016 summer edition. I am now exhibiting at Effusion Gallery in Invermere BC, and at LE CARRÉ D'ARTISTES Galerie d'Art, Montreal PQ. I paint commision work as well.
